Biography: My name is Phillip Lara; I usually go by Phil. I am currently working part time at Aims and studying music to incorporate it into my creative pursuits. Lyricists from my favorite musical artists such as Brendan Murphy (Counterparts), Jonathan Vigil (The Ghost Inside), all the members of August Burns Red, Jt Cavey (Erra, Texas in July) and Ryan Kirby (Fit for a King) have deeply influenced my writing. Their ability to encapsulate raw emotion in their lyrics resonated with me and inspired me to create my own.

Beyond music, I have also been inspired by friends who write poetry. Seeing their work has encouraged me to explore my own voice through writing. Story telling has been a passion of mine for as long as I can rememeber. I have taken inspiration from films as well as video games. I draw influenced from J.R.R Tolkien’s The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings, as well as his poetic writing style. CS Lewis The Chronicles of Narnia.

Music, poetry and storytelling have all shaped my imagination and continue to inspire my creative journey.
