Archived: The Devil Went Down to Albuquerque by Zoe Coats

The Devil went down to Albuquerque
God knows why
He went to the place
Where dreams go to die

He wore a hooded cloak
To bask in his own tenebrosity
He took some anger management
To fix his animosity

The road was long
And the cucumber green
In Albuquerque he found
A bloody scene

Most people sought adventure
So they left town
But some of them stayed
For the big throw-down

They fought for the heck of it
Scratching and pulling hair
You could say they were possessed
Except the Devil wasn’t there

The Devil went down to Albuquerque
A bit too late
He was a new man
And he set them straight
