Maybe Tomorrow… By. Jonathan Gonzolez Trejo

Maybe tomorrow I don’t know…
Maybe tomorrow I don’t know I don’t know…
Maybe tomorrow I won’t tighten my head in braids…
Maybe tomorrow the way I display my hair will make me look confident and cool and not clueless and concerned…

Maybe tomorrow you’ll come back to my arms, girl! Had to throw in that sweet Jackson 5…
Maybe tomorrow I’ll apply to that institution that only sees me as a piggy bank to be cracked…
Maybe tomorrow I’ll ask a frog if it’s offensive to say “ribbit” as a human…
Maybe tomorrow I’ll look up at the sky and get skysickness not off looking at those gorgeous detached domes of clouds of which the bulging upper part often resembles a cauliflower but because of drones…

Maybe tomorrow I’ll read an article about the devices making residents cough and suffer from a blocked or runny nose or puffy watery eyes after witnessing, reading, or hearing about the drones and tell myself “Why the fuck would anyone believe something like that?” and then remind myself again that it is December in New Jersey and that they’re Americans…

Maybe tomorrow I’ll look up at the sky and pray to the alien race out there to just finish us off already…

Maybe tomorrow I’ll work myself up to becoming a kid again…
Maybe tomorrow I’ll go outside with the Saucony x Maybe Tomorrow Shadow 6000s on and scurry like a hare out of the Watership Down warren…

Maybe tomorrow I’ll find a job…
Maybe tomorrow the job instead will find me…
Maybe tomorrow I’ll be back at finding a job…
Maybe tomorrow I won’t see disappointed looks on my kinship…
Myaybe tomorrow someone will finally talk to me as another mortal and not as some page in a coloring book…

Maybe tomorrow I’ll realize my words are too kangaroo and that I’m just a Joey inside of a pouch and not a badass, an eye opener, or a motherfuckin’ king to vouch…

Maybe tomorrow I’ll wake up lissome ready to listen the three little birds chirp, but instead the plot will thicken…

Maybe tomorrow should come already…
Maybe tomorrow I won’t be scared any more of the possibilities that the maybe tomorrow’s possess…

Maybe tomorrow…

Written on 12/20/24 and then glued to the top of a drone and later confiscated by the U.S. Government…the author is still alive btw…but you never know…maybe tomorrow…
