Biography: Before Aims, I attended cosmetology school and found this path to be one I was not satisfied with. Being at Aims has enlightened me on what I want my future to look like and what makes me happy. I am currently a double major in both studio art and administrative assistant. I plan to indulge in both careers as a personal artist and an office worker.
My art is a way for me to express my creativity and make something unique and beautiful. Creating art gives me peace and comfort in my ability to produce something great. Doing this brings me back to thoughts of my grandmother and how proud she would be of my work. Growing up, my grandmother became a huge influence in my artistic endeavors. Her previous experience as an art instructor allowed me to explore different forms of art media.
I am an artist who enjoys turning dark and unusual subjects into something beautiful and memorable. I consider the majority of my work to be a mix of surrealism with the macabre. I am a mixed-media artist, who delves into ceramics, drawing, painting, illustration, collage, and more. Since my ideas are not limited, I see art as never to be limited either.
Some artists that helped inspire this work are Hieronymus Bosch, a dutch renaissance painter from the 16th century, and Mary Shelley, the author of “Frankenstein” from the 19th century. Bosch’s attention to detail and high level of iconography plus Shelley’s novel helped as inspiration for this piece.
