Biography: AIMS appealed to me when I started my GED program in 2022, during classes held online due to COVID. After I finished the program, Aims contacted me to let me know I could enroll in a college degree program. So I signed up for a Liberal Arts with Art Studio Associates degree.
What does your art or craft mean to you?
For me, it is an honor. This art means to me the proof that my talent and skill help me create a space for freedom of expression, with the beauty of what I capture of nature, and together with the amazing contrast of colors that build my painting into an extraordinary work. It was very surprising, and I was very pleased with how my art turned out. Sharing this journey helps the audience see my genuine passion and feel connected to my growth.
What drew you to your form of artistic expression?
This piece helps convey the form of the outdoor landscape and focuses on details, from reflections in the water to the trees and the color of the sky. It was a fantastic experience expressing with different color patterns and a pleasure to see the outcome.
Who are you as an artist?
I am an artist who admires how the effects of paint can create monumental works of art—and whose brilliant mind, in its deepest depths, requires the brush and the bristle to breathe life into the truly admirable.
Who are some of the artists who inspired your work? Bob Ross’ PBS show The Joy of Painting. One artist who significantly inspired my work is my professor, Luna. I learned, for the very first time, how to paint with acrylics, mix colors, and develop foundational skills. His guidance and teaching skills expanded my horizons in painting and gave me the confidence to enjoy and explore my artistic journey.
