Eternal Love by Blake Serrato

I was lost when I met you,

and you were broken,

I wasn’t looking for love,

I was running from it,

And you were convinced you’d never love again.

You love me as if the universe was made in my image,

As if I put the stars in the sky,

As if I hung the moon and I the warmth of the sun,

As if I am the very thing that pulls breath into your lungs.

But I have done none of those things.

So, on this pedestal, I sit,

Where falling can only mean one thing.

I have loved you with everything I am,

With everything I have,

With the very fibers of my being,

With the very breath that leaves my lungs.

So, on this pedestal, I sit,

Afraid of the fall,

Loving you until.

Loving you until the universe combusts and there is nothing left,

Loving you until there are no stars left in the sky,

Loving you until the moon falls from the sky and the sun no longer warms the Earth

Loving you until we are six feet under and air no longer fills our lungs.

Our love is eternal,

We are eternal.
