In his astrophotography, Ben draws huge inspiration from Swedish photographer Göran Strand, whose “otherworldly” captures of the Aurora Borealis give Ben a mark to shoot for when he’s trying to capture his own images. Ben views each photograph as a time capsule, a pause in the rush of everyday life that allows the viewer to revisit moments that are otherwise gone in an instant.
As an artist, Ben considers himself a preserver of the fleeting. He is driven by the challenge of documenting the details from the expressions in a portrait, to the vast celestial objects that are often overlooked in the relentless pace of modern life. Through his lens, he invites his audience to slow down and shoot for the stars.
