Paths of Destruction by Amanda

Paths of destruction litter the road
Leaves in the storm
Swirling, spinning, surrounding me
Blocking my view
Paranoia, depression, and despair
My only companions.

Bloodstained knees from constant prayer
Voice echoing in the empty air.
Blank eyed vision clouded
Silent voices shouted
Listening to the words I cannot hear.
Bravely feeling fear
Wrapped in shadows of light
How much longer should I fight
Mind dances on a rainbow
That leaves scars that do not show
Hearts multifaceted pain.
Will the weather clear again?
Storms rage inside windows
Flooding rivers of the soul no one knows

Drowning victim of my thoughts.

Biography:

I started writing poetry at a very young age. It started as scribbling down thinks that bothered me or I couldn’t get out of my mind. Putting it in writing seemed to give me a peace I couldn’t get any other way. In junior high we had an assignment to write 4 poems in different styles (They were submitted anonymously) and the teacher read the ones that were voted the best out loud. 3 of mine were read in front of the class and only the teacher knew they were mine. Not long after I was gifted the Complete Works of Shakespeare and Robert Frost’s poetry? I was in love and found catharsis in writing in all its forms.
