Burnt Marshmallow of Contempt by Matthew J Frink

On a planet primarily made of water
in the state of Colorado with rushing rivers, flowing from the mountain.
Wild Bobcats
lapping up the winter water flowing down the mountainside.
Flowing
near the town of Greeley.
next to the university is a home
with a thirsty kitty. A small fountain
Water sprinkling
jets into a pool.
The perfect refreshment for the tiny wannabe Snow Leopard
staring with crossed eyes.
Drooling
a bit,
Fluffy cuddle-monster playfully bats
at the stream and licks her paw.
She bats.
Bats, leans.
Leans, bats.
Falls!
Face splats into the fountain
Wet faced and embarrassed
Ragdoll does just that.
Flop…Drop.
And roll
both brain cells rattling, she looks around frantically for witnesses.
Humans are watching. Laughing.
How Rude!
She turns her back.
A burnt marshmallow of contempt.
That’s right, Yuk it up.
it’s all fun and games until they find
the half-devoured Surprise left in their Shoe!

Biography: What brings me to Aims is a desire to be something greater than I already am. I have always been a storyteller. The first to amuse my friends and family with various performances, but that was always seen as a hobby, and one that wouldn’t take me anywhere. So, I found myself within a loop of ritualism for a long time, until I found my epiphany. The lightbulb came in the form of my lovely wife and her unending encouragement. An artist herself, she helped me realize my potential as a creator. Pointed out to me that through my passion for writing songs and stories, I could touch people. I could make them feel. She showed me that words are magic. Real spells sitting on the tip of my tongue ready to be cast into the world shaping and molding it. When people experience my work I want them to feel seen, heard, and ultimately uplifted. I put my abnormal perspective into the universe hoping that I am not alone and that others see it too.
