A napkin? Or was it another word, probably lost to time<\/span><\/p>\n Yet another piece of erased history, soon before its prime<\/span><\/p>\n A candle blown out by the sleight of hand<\/span><\/p>\n An ashen cloth carries itself across the land<\/span><\/p>\n The spider caws, the crow weaves<\/span><\/p>\n Soon to be whispered slowly upon unbroken dead leaves<\/span><\/p>\n The candle slowly reignites<\/span><\/p>\n Aligning the spirits under the firelight<\/span><\/p>\n The napkin begins to catch its own flame<\/span><\/p>\n The spirits begin to play their own game<\/span><\/p>\n The burning cloth dries down to the bone<\/span><\/p>\n Losing its color, losing its tone<\/span><\/p>\n The napkin fades away into black<\/span><\/p>\n The ashen remains, excitement, they seem to lack<\/span><\/p>\n And the spirits dissipate unsatisfied<\/span><\/p>\n Never to return to the candlelight<\/span><\/p>\n Never always takes forever<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Author: Landen Shuey Email: lshuey@greeleyschools.org Submission: A napkin?
