Disguised in animosity and briskly walking
\nShe boarded the ship
\nThe sea gently rocking<\/p>\n
She could smell adventure in the salty ocean air
\nThe constable eyed her strangely
\nAs she chewed on her hair<\/p>\n
She tried to control her breathing
\nWhich would have been easier if she hadn’t been grieving<\/p>\n
The entanglement, still fresh in her mind
\nHad left a scar on her soul
\nAnd her heart in a bind<\/p>\n
With a stomach full of dread
\nAnd cloudy thoughts in her head
\nShe looked hopefully at the golden horizon
\nLaying not far ahead<\/p>\n
The constable gave the captain a nod
\nThe ship, weighed down by desperate souls,
\nEmbarked on its journey
\nBeyond the familiar shoals<\/p>\n
Unmasked, no longer shrouded in tenebrosity
\nShe left the ship
\nBriskly walking
\nVenturing into this unknown land
\nNot a thing in her pockets
\nNo coin in her hand<\/p>\n
The wind blew through holes in her tattered ruby coat
\nReminding her she was still alive
\nReminding her of the knife that almost slit her throat<\/p>\n
She steadied herself
\nShe steadied her heart
\nNo longer would she be consumed by fear
\nShe was determined
\nShe would not play that part<\/p>\n
If there was anything she had learned after years of fleeing<\/p>\n
