My mother use to take me to the houses on the other side<\/span><\/p>\n where the rich people lived.<\/span><\/p>\n A distant paradise where in the front yards stood divinely the white picket fences,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n And the picket signs with messages of love and hope.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201c<\/span>Alg\u00fan d\u00eda tendremos una casa as\u00ed<\/span><\/i>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Perhaps my mother told me this because it was her dream<\/span><\/p>\n Since the day she left her little village in the hilltops.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n My mother worked.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n I studied.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n I learnt about the great wonders of our glorious country.<\/span><\/p>\n If I work hard enough I\u2019ll make it.
