Your lips are burnt sugar,\u00a0<\/span>\r\nglazed with vanilla<\/span>\r\nthe texture of whipped syrup.<\/span>\r\nYour cheeks are like pieces of silk<\/span>\r\ndraped over a crooked wireframe.<\/span>\r\nYour eyes are like pools of stolen moonlight,<\/span>\r\nonly they hide rigid daggers beneath them.<\/span>\r\n\r\n Your tongue is contracted to a script,<\/span>\r\nonly so effortlessly written<\/span>\r\nthat my heart dances to its melody<\/span>\r\nalmost by reflex.<\/span>\r\nStrings from artery and vein<\/span>\r\nattached like a puppet to its wooden guide,<\/span>\r\nbut only if that guide were the connections<\/span>\r\nbetween your neurons.<\/span>\r\n\r\n Sweet is nice<\/span>\r\nbut not when it gives you cavities<\/span>\r\nand candy is a treat<\/span>\r\nbut not when it comes with a side of poison and vice.<\/span>\r\nGuilty pleasures are none to be worried of,<\/span>\r\nunless you\u2019re sweeping sticky addiction under the rug.<\/span>\r\n\r\nDon\u2019t tell me you love me<\/span>\r\nif you roll it in cocaine<\/span>\r\nbecause I have trouble separating powdered sugar<\/span>\r\nfrom euphoria dripping with embarrassed regret.<\/span>\r\nDon\u2019t tell me you love me<\/span>\r\nif you hide razors in its cute little wrapping,<\/span>\r\nbecause I tend to be the gullible type,<\/span>\r\nthe \u2018trust you with all that I am\u2019 type.<\/span>\r\nDon\u2019t tell me you love me,<\/span>\r\nif you love like a drug addict,<\/span>\r\nbecause I\u2019m the type to give until my teeth rot<\/span>\r\nand my heart is strained.<\/span>\r\nTill artery and vein are ripped out of place.<\/span>\r\nTill you have all that I am\u2014all that I was\u2014swept beneath your rug.<\/span><\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
