\nI am Gualtemalteca, not Mexican.
\nI have the power of who I am, not you,
\nYou can’t change me only I can,
\nyou say that the way that I look
\nmakes me Mexican, but just because
\nI am brown doesn’t mean I have
\nto be Chicana. I am Chapina
\nand with a lot of pride. You try to
\nconvince me to Americanize,
\nbut I believe and have pride.
\nI have become what I want to become.

\nI have rights just like you do, yet
\nagain you treat me differently, like

\ntried to get rid of me.
\nWe are all different and need to be

\ndoesn’t define me, only my culture can
