I am black before I am human,\u00a0<\/span>\r\nI am a disgrace before I am accepted, <\/span>\r\nI am a thief before I am an ally. <\/span>\r\n\r\nI am a child before I am bright, <\/span>\r\nI am dead before I am alive, <\/span>\r\nI am split between two worlds <\/span>\r\nand Neither one accepts me. <\/span>\r\n\r\nI am broken but taped together, <\/span>\r\nMy skin does not define me. <\/span>\r\nI am more than what they say. <\/span>\r\nI am strong. <\/span>\r\n\r\nThey don\u2019t care about my mental state, <\/span>\r\nMental institutions are just a romantic place. <\/span>\r\nWhy is it so normal we\u2019re <\/span>\r\nSo broken yet they say nothing? <\/span>\r\n\r\nThey may not understand my pain<\/span>\r\nOr that I live my life in vain, <\/span>\r\nAnd in excessive rage <\/span>\r\nWhy do they do this to me? <\/span>\r\nWhy do they do this to us? <\/span>\r\n\r\nMy gender defines me <\/span>\r\nMy skin degrades me <\/span>\r\nWhy do I care what they think? <\/span>\r\nWhat I want is not what they want <\/span>\r\nbut yet, I accept me <\/span>\r\n\r\nDespite what the world wants, <\/span>\r\nI am not weak <\/span>\r\nI love me for me NOT for who they want me to be.<\/span><\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
