Archived: They Found a Home by Victoria Hughes

A bird is singing off in the distance

As we sit atop a gorgeous and natural formation

There’s a breeze…

Not strong, but ripples form in the water

The bright sky that was once a plan and simple sapphire is now crowded with more guests

Tangerine orange…

Lilac purple…

Even dull pink and faint yellows

That is when I looked up and saw you smiling

Then  I knew I was home

This poem was written while on a hike with my boyfriend. Whenever we have a terrible day, we escape to the gorgeous mountains. All of our problems seem to fade away, and we finally feel at home.
