Archived: A Diamond by Alan Jaimes

A poem is like a diamond,

Its true beauty lies in hard work,

But when the work is done, it shines,

Like a beacon of heaven, reigning upon

The darkness of our sins like an angelic psalm.

A poem is like a diamond, it’s elegant and exquisite

Yet its true power can completely change your

Focus. How is it that something so small

Can show such affluence and how is it

That something so small is worth

Such a high price? Though

Small trinkets of this

Nature bring

Us great

Pleasure, such

Have these very trinkets deceived us, blindfolded us into greedy despair.

A single diamond is reasonable, but we must be mindful of what too many can do to us.
